E-mail Print

On December 23, the Honourable Beverly J. Oda, Minister of International Cooperation, announced funding for new development projects of 53 Canadian organizations, including an AKFC-supported project in Bihar, India.

The Program For Enhancing Quality and Access to Education in Bihar (PEQAB) project will improve learning opportunities for 75,000 children, while demonstrating a replicable model for improving school quality and increasing access for marginalized populations.

The proposed investment builds upon significant gains made through a network of neighbourhood-level Learning Support Centres, launched by the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) in 2009, which provide  afterschool support to  pre-school and primary school children.

The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) will contribute up to $1.8 million over two years to the project, matched by a contribution of up to $810,000 from AKFC.
