A Developing World Map

An easy-to-use map that shows the health, wealth, and education indicators for all of the countries of the world, based on the United Nations Human Development Index. The online version of the map includes extra interactive features and links to a series of 13 bilingual lesson plans to help teachers make use of the map in the classroom. 

Alberta Council for Global Cooperation (Development in a Box)

Filled with lesson plans on a variety of global issues, this resource is designed to help teachers incorporate global issues into the classroom curriculum.   Lessons are linked to curriculum objectives in the Alberta Program of Studies.

Bridges that Unite

A teaching resource on international development initiated by Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC) and developed by Classroom Connections and Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC). 

Citizen Kid Central

An online hub containing multimedia tools for children to explore global issues such as children’s rights, food security, access to safe and clean water, biodiversity, microfinance, and access to education and healthcare.  

Economics for All (OXFAM Workshop Resource Materials)

A curriculum guide for Grade 8 classes that contains lessons on Human Rights, economics, trade, agriculture, and more.

Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology (CAWST) Wavemakers

CAWST (Centre for Affordable Water & Sanitation Technology) provides technical training and consulting and acts as a centre of expertise in water and sanitation for the poor in developing countries.  CAWST’s Youth Wavemakers is a unique program dedicated to youth.  Wavemakers informs, engages, encourages action, and celebrates the impact that youth are having on local and global water issues.  CAWST Wavemakers offers a wide range of resources for educators.
